In the past. There were no Windows. Neithger graphical interface. There were just an interfaces to computation machines. It used punched papers. But in about that time there was a terminal.

Good ideas persists. The stupid dissapears. That’s why terminals, consoles and command lines made it to this day. It doesn’t keep You from certainty. It gives You possibility to enter very exact commands to be executed by the machine. And that’s something that GUI can’t make. The further You away from unrestricted possibilites to give the machine exact orders what to do the better.

Some would disagree. But this short article is just about a possibility how to configure Your Linux system in the old fashioned and minimalistic way.

If there would be a choice I would personally discard all the mouse clickbait. But it’s a trend. If You choose the difficult path to think about Your actions You came up with simple solutions.

If You’re using an older machine. Or just want very responsible system. Then Gnome, KDE etc. is not Your choice. In that case You choose Fluxbox. So simple it is. Fluxbox is one of the older but still maintained Window Managers.

Let’s assume You just installed the netinstall of Debian. And You didn’t choose any Window Manager. Your disk-space is low. And You processor is slow. Or You just don’t want GBs of redundant libraries. Then just issue
